What does a career coaching session entail?
Session 1 Goal Setting and Personal Impact and Presentation
The first part of our meeting will be setting the ground rules for your journey with me.
You will be asked to take responsibility for the mentoring relationship and play an active role within your own development. In return I shall support you with issues relating to all aspects of your Career and general work readiness. I will then help you enhance your personal impact and presentation with my extensive knowledge database.
Session 2 Reading Job Adverts
In order to grab an employer’s attention, you need to write a cover letter that will stand out from the rest. We will cover how to read job adverts and I will give you some ideas about how to write an effective cover letter that will address specific job adverts and present yourself in a strong light. At the conclusion of week 2 you will be asked to send your latest CV for review ahead of Week 3 session.
Session 3 CV Writing and Covering Letters
With my experience and knowledge of today’s recruitment processes I can help you with creating a great CV and hopefully help you find that perfect role you would like to take on. In week 3 we will cover the CV which is the most flexible and convenient way to make applications. Remember a CV is a marketing document and there is no "one best way" to construct a CV
Session 4 Networking and Researching Companies
You need to go out of your way to research the organisation – its purpose, its products, even its history. This sounds like a huge task, but fortunately there are lots of resources that I can provide you with that will help you in your search.
Session 5 How to conduct an Effective Job Search
Beginning your job search can be a daunting experience – there are many things you need to think about if you are to be successful in landing a job. This factsheet is designed to help you navigate the obstacles and make your search as effective as possible.
Session 6 Interview Questions and Answers
I can give you an idea of the types of questions that you can expect to be asked in most interviews and what you should think about in your answers. Interview questions will vary according to organisation, but essentially all interviews are designed to find out: your suitability for the job – skills, knowledge, experience your enthusiasm and interest for the job and whether you will fit in with the rest of the organisation
